Jambalaya
Good-bye joe, he gotta go, me oh my oh
Me gotta go-pole the pirogue down the bayou
My yvonne the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou
Thibodaux, fontaineaux the place is buzzin’
A kin-folk come to see yvonne by the dozen
Dress in style the go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou
(*)Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo
'Cause tonight, I’m a-gonna see my my-my cher a mi-o
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Almost heaven, west virginia
Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered round her
Miners lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
(*)Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice
In the mornin hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin down the road I get a feelin
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Stay All Night
Can't go home if you're going by the mill
Cause the bridge' washed out at the bottom of the hill
Big Creek's up, Little Creek's level,
Plow my corn with a double shovel
(*)Stay all night, stay a little longer
Dance all night, dance a little longer
Pull off your coat, throw it in the corner
Don't see why you can't stay a little longer.
Sitting in the window, singing to my love
Slop bucket fell from the window up above
Mule and the grasshopper eatin ice cream
mule got sick, so they laid him on the green
You ought to see my Blue Eyed Sally
She lives way down on Shinbone Alley
Number on the gate, the number on the door
The next house over is the grocery store.
Grab your partner, pat her on the head
If she don't like biscuits, feed her cornbread
Girls around Big Creek, 'bout half grown
Jump on a man like a dog on a bone
I'm an old cowhand
I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
But my legs ain't bowed and my cheeks ain't tanned
I'm the cowboy who never saw a cow
Never roped a steer 'cause I don't know how
I sure ain't fixin' to start in now
Yippee i oh ti-ay! Yippee i oh ti-ay!
I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
And I learned to ride before I learned to stand
I'm a ridin' fool who is up to date
I know every trail in the Lone Star State
'Cause I ride the range in a Ford V-8
Yippee i oh ti-ay! Yippee i oh ti-ay!
We're old cowhands from the Rio Grande
And we come to town just to hear the band
We know all the songs that the cowboys know
'Bout the Big Corral where the dogies go
We learned them all on the radio
Yipee i oh ti-ay! Yippee i oh ti-ay!
I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande
Where the West is wild all around the borderland
Where the buffalo roam around the zoo
And the Indians run up a rug or two
And the old Bar X is just a barbeque
Yippee i oh ti-ay!
I'm a pioneer who began from scratch
I don't bat an eye in a suit or hat
They don't call me Elmer, they call me Satch
Yippee i oh ti-ay! Yippee i oh ti-ay! Yippee i oh ti-ay!
Gentle On My Mind
It's knowin' that your door is always open
And your path is free to walk
That makes me tend to leave my sleepin' bag
Rolled up and stashed behind your couch
And it's knowin' I'm not shackled
By forgotten words and bonds
And the ink stains that have dried upon some line
That keeps you in the back roads
By the rivers of my memory
That keeps you ever gentle on my mind
It's not clingin' to the rocks and ivy
Planted on their columns now that bind me
Or something that somebody said because
They thought we fit together walkin'
It's just knowing that the world
Will not be cursing or forgiving
When I walk along some railroad track and find
That you're movin' on the back roads
By the rivers of my memory
And for hours you're just gentle on my mind
Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines
And the junkyards and the highways come between us
And some other woman's cryin' to her mother
'cause she turned and I was gone
I still might run in silence
Tears of joy might stain my face
And the summer sun might burn me till I'm blind
But not to where I cannot see
You walkin' on the back roads
By the rivers flowin' gentle on my mind
I dip my cup of soup back from a gurglin' cracklin' cauldron
In some train yard
My beard a rustlin' coal pile
And a dirty hat pulled low across my face
Through cupped hands 'round a tin can
I pretend to hold you to my breast and find
That you're waitin' from the back roads
By the rivers of my memory
Ever smilin', ever gentle on my mind
Crazy
Crazy, crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then some day you'd leave me for somebody new.
Worry, why do I let myself worry
Wondering, what in the world did I do
Oh crazy, for thinking
That my love could hold you.
I'm crazy, for trying
And crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.
Crazy for thinking
That my love could hold you.
I'm crazy, for trying
And crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
I've Just Seen a Face
I've just seen a face,
I can't forget the time or place
That we'd just met, she's just the girl for me
And I want all the world to see we've met
Oh oh oh oh
Had it been another day
I might have looked the other way
But I had never been aware
And as it is I dream of her tonight
Oh oh oh oh
(*)Falling, yes I am falling
And she keeps calling me back again
I have never known
The likes of this, I've been alone
And I have missed things and kept out of sight
But other girls were never quite like this
Oh oh oh oh
I've just seen a face
I can t forget the time or place
And we'd just met, she's just the girl for me
And I want all the world to see we've met
Oh oh oh oh
She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
Around her neck
she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the springtime
And in the month of May
when I asked her why the yellow ribbon
she wore it for her lover who was far far away
far away far away
she said it's for her lover who was far far away
far away far away
she said it's for her lover who was far far away
Around her neck
she wore a yellow ribbon
She wore it in the springtime
And in the month of May
and when I asked her why the yellow ribbon
she wore it for her sweety who was far far away
far away far away
she said it's for her sweety who was far far away
far away far away
she said it's for her sweety who was far far away
Around her hair
she wore a yellow ribbon
she wore it in the morning
And in the month of May
they asked they asked
the reason why she wore it
she wore it for her sweety who was far far away
far away far away
she said it's for her sweety who was far far away
Danny Boy
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen and down the mountain side
The summer's gone and all the roses dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bye.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
Yes I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy I love you so
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
My boy (by Lisa Ono)
First time I saw my son, I knew I was in love.
Because he was the gift I got from somewhere up above.
O wow, o yes, o joy, so joy right here in my arms.
He looks at me, I can see he's showing all his charms.
Can't remember what I do before I saw his face.
But now he's here and I can feel his amazing grace.
Watching him play, somehow reminds me of myself.
Once upon a different time when I was someone else.
O me, o my, I feel so high every single day.
O yes, o lay, my lord yea yea watching my son play.
First time he'd walk detours I step in to a chance.
I took his hand and then we start it likes dance.
The first dance was so fine that I never will forget.
He held my hand so tightly that I had start dancing yet.
My love, my boy, my son, my joy always keep your glow.
And know that love will be with you wherever you may go.
And if something should fall apart somewhere down the line.
Just tell me all about it and I will make it fine.
I'd travel many roads before but somehow they were wrong.
And sometime we find that life is just a simple song.
Even the saddest songs ever human face.
I will always keep my son in love's magic place.
